Subject: Search for Barbie Day 16
Whew, where do I begin?
At about 4:00 this afternoon, I got a call from a lady in town saying that she'd found a beagle during the storm last night. She described Barbie's collar, but said there was no tag on it. So, I left work early and went to see if the dog was Barbie.
I guess purple/pink collars must be popular for beagles in this area, because sure enough, there she was wearing the same exact collar as Barbie! The only thing wrong was that it wasn't Barbie wearing the collar.
At 5:00, my telephone consultation with Sonya Fitzpatrick began. She first explained what she does, and then began telling me what Barbie had been seeing and experiencing. Barbie is apparently still on the loose, and is in an area with tall telephone or power poles and brick buildings that are very close together. She talked about a bridge, and that after two different people had tried to catch her she ran so far and fast that she became completely lost.
After talking with Sonya, I went across the bridge that separates this side of town from East Marion, and began handing out flyers and posters at all the restaurants and bars, gas stations and laundromats that I could find. I talked with children and old folks. Some said "oh yeah, I've seen a beagle around, but I don't remember where" and others said "No, I haven't seen a dog like that one." I tried as hard as I could to match together all the pieces of information Sonya gave me with the particular land marks in town. I'm not sure if I made any headway, but I guess we'll see.
One thing in particular Sonya asked me to do was to bring along some of my own urine to sprinkle on the ground. Supposedly, Barbie will smell this and know that I've been there. Beasley did his part sprinkling urine wherever we went too.
On the way back to my house, I ran into (not literally) a lady who used to live here nearby, but now lives on the side of town where Sonya feels that Barbie may be staying. I gave her flyers as well, and she promised to get the school in that neighborhood to put the flyers up.
Once again, I'm exhausted, and I've gone and forgotten to eat dinner. Maybe I'll go eat some green beans...
